Department History
The Department of Foreign Languages and Literature was first established as an Applied Foreign Languages Department in 2000 when the school was a polytechnique. AFLD added new faculty members and its curriculum underwent changes and became DFLL in 2003. Professor Andy Leung is the current Chair of the department.
In addition to preserving the original more practical courses, DFLL has added literature and linguistics courses. Three new faculty members specializing in literature, linguistics, TESOL and language teaching joined the department in the past few years. We expect to recruit a joint-appointment teacher in 2012. A proposal has been submitted to Ministry of Education for the establishment of a graduate program.
